Frequently Asked Questions

Is Chitmunk really free?

Yes. The free tier gives you full access to the card editor, all 200+ component sizes, 135+ templates, CSV data merge, PNG/JPEG/WebP export, and print-at-home PDFs. Pro unlocks additional features like PDF export with crop marks, AI image generation, custom fonts, Google Drive sync, and more. You can design and export complete card games without spending a cent.

Where are my projects saved?

Your projects are saved in your browser's local storage (localStorage and IndexedDB). This means your work stays on your device and is available instantly. The trade-off is that clearing your browser data will remove saved projects, so we recommend exporting backups regularly. Pro users can also sync projects to Google Drive for cloud backup.

Can I use Chitmunk for commercial games?

Absolutely. You're free to use Chitmunk to design cards for commercial board games, card games, and any other products. The designs you create are yours. Just note that if you use third-party clip art (like icons from the Clip Art Browser), check their individual licenses, most are CC0 or MIT, but it's good practice to verify.

What print services work with Chitmunk?

Chitmunk supports all standard card sizes from TheGameCrafter and exports print-ready files compatible with popular print-on-demand services including:

  • TheGameCrafter: direct upload integration (Pro)
  • MakePlayingCards (MPC)
  • DriveThruCards

You can also use the print-at-home PDF export to print on a home printer, or export PNGs for any service that accepts standard image files.
